The screw pumps of the Belgorod Hydromechanical Plant (BGMZ) of the SP-H series are the ideal solution for pumping various media, including aggressive, gaseous, abrasive, as well as media with the highest degree of viscosity with a consistency incapable of flow.

This type of pumping equipment is unique in its own way. Horizontal screw pumps of the volumetric type successfully cope with pumping liquid substances containing solid fractions. The SP-H pumps are highly reliable, economical and easy to operate, and highly maintainable.

The versatility of the SP series pumping unit system combines many of the positive properties of other types of pumps.:

  • it has no suction and pressure valves – valveless design;
  • the number of rotations of the rotor is proportional to the feed rate at a stable pressure;
  • the ability to change the direction of fluid flow (when equipped with a special gear motor in agreement with the customer);
  • has a self-priming capacity of up to 8m;
  • pumping of heterogeneous, gaseous and abrasive media, such as those containing strong and fibrous substances with a consistency that is not capable of flow;
  • pumps highly viscous media;
  • the possibility of application for dosing;
  • does not foam the pumped substance;
  • operability with different tilt angles.

The principle of pumping is to move the medium by periodically displacing a constant volume enclosed in sealed chambers between the rotor and the stator. When the rotor rotates, the cavity on the suction side increases in volume, and a vacuum is created in it, under the influence of vacuum, the transported medium fills the resulting cavity. With further rotation and displacement of the helical line stroke, the cavity closes, and the transported medium is moved by the rotor along the stator axis towards discharge.

The screw of the gerotor pair is driven by a geared motor by means of a hinge. The joint is connected to the shaft of the gear motor and the screw of the gear pair – finger or cardan.

The pump units of the SP series operate in the direction of rotation of the drive shaft indicated by the arrow on the nameplate. All parts in contact with the pumped liquid are made of steel 20, 40X13 or 12X18H10T (to be specified when ordering or selecting a pump). The stator is made of elastomer. Elastomer is supplied depending on the medium being pumped: food grade, oil and gas resistant or abrasive resistant.

SP pumping units are rotating volumetric pumps. The main parts that determine the workflow are the rotating part – the “rotor” and the fixed part – the “stator”. The natural wear of the contacting surfaces depends on the number, size and hardness of the inclusions.

The rotor has the shape of an external single-pass spiral and is made of high-strength steel with increased hardness. The stator is an internal two-way spiral and consists of a metal casing and an elastomer connected to it. When the rotor rotates in the stator, the pumped substance constantly moves from the inlet side to the outlet side.

Structurally, pumping units of the SP series consist of: a drive gear motor or a variator motor, an adapter rack, a gerotor pair (stator + rotor), an inlet pipe (SP-H pumping unit), an outlet pressure pipe (SP-H pumping unit), a chamber, a hinge and a shaft sealing device.

The appearance and components of the screw pump are shown in Fig.

The rotor is an external single-pass spiral with a cross-section offset by an amount of eccentricity from the axis.

The stator is an internal two-way spiral made of elastomer, inseparably connected to a metal cage (sleeve).

The shaft provides the transmission of torque to the rotor, has a high resistance to wear. It is possible to install a screw feeder.

The shaft seal can be of the following types: serviced oil seal, single end seal, double end seal according to API.

The hinge assembly fulfills the eccentricity of the rotor, is filled with grease, and has a sealed design.

The entrance, depending on the model of the unit and the customer’s desire, is made in the form of a pipe with a flange or a quick-release “nut” connection, or a rectangular inlet neck.

 

The outlet, depending on the model of the unit and the customer’s desire, is made in the form of a pipe with a flange, or a quick-release “nut” connection.

The rack is a bed for mounting the drive and camera.

The drive is a geared motor or a variator motor, which gives the required rotational speed to the rotor and the hinge assembly.

The frame ensures the necessary accuracy of mounting all the structural elements of the pump.

The pumping unit includes:

  • screw pump;
  • reduction gear;
  • electric motor;
  • frame (pump unit SP-H);
  • mounting flange (SP-V).

The delivery package includes:

  • screw pump assembly;
  • passport of the screw unit;
  • operating instructions for the screw unit;
  • passport, gearbox operation manual (if available);
  • passport for the electric motor (if available);

At the request of the customer, a spare parts repair kit, a frequency converter, idling protection, and an overpressure protection unit can be supplied for a fee under the relevant contract.
