Pumping products with inclusions

Handling non-flowing media

Some food media are incapable of flowing independently under normal conditions. Their transportation requires heating and maintaining temperature along the entire pipeline route. BGMZ screw pumps are equipped with gerotor pairs capable of operating at temperatures up to +150°C and are fitted with additional heating of the screw pair and working chamber, which makes it possible to maintain product fluidity during pumping.

Pumping viscous media with inclusions

If the technological process requires preserving the properties of the medium, but the product has high viscosity and contains solid inclusions (for example, fish mince with small bones), SP-H pumps are equipped with a screw feeder. The feeder is designed for additional grinding and forced advancement of the viscous medium toward the working chamber. For operation with abrasive inclusions, stators made of natural rubber BR/NR, resistant to wear, are used.

Stages of wastewater treatment

Mechanical stage

The medium prepared for treatment is fed by a sludge or sapropel pump to screens, grit chambers, and septic tanks. The maximum gap width of the filtering devices typically does not exceed 16 mm. SP series screw pumps are capable of pumping liquid with soft inclusions up to 74 mm and solid fractions up to 50 mm, which guarantees uninterrupted supply even with large contaminants.

Biological stage

Using SP-H or SP-V pumps, the medium enters primary settling tanks, aeration tanks, or methane tanks, where mineralization of wastewater and removal of organic nitrogen and phosphorus take place. The primary settling tanks are followed by a line of radial settling tanks, where screw pumps are used for pumping activated sludge and sediment.

Physicochemical stage

At this stage, mechanical dewatering of the sludge is carried out using flocculants, coagulants, and other reagents. For dosing and feeding these substances, chemical pumps made of stainless steel with stator elastomers of NBR (nitrile), EPDM, or FKM (Viton) are used — depending on the aggressiveness of the medium.

Wastewater disinfection

The final stage is disinfection of the treated liquid with a chlorine or hypochlorite solution. SP series screw pumps in a chemical version effectively handle this task.
